A fantastic resource that we as teachers use for some resources is Twinkl.   They have kindly opened this up to parents at this time for FREE. You will find lots of resources on the website for your child in the Year 3 area.

Below is a list of on-going tasks for MATHS, ENGLISH, PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES and CREATIVE TASKS which you could complete during the time our school is closed.

 

MATHS

 

  • Practise your Times Tables – You could use ‘Times tables Rock Stars’ or simply practise your 3x, 4x, 8x, tables together at home. https://ttrockstars.com/

 

  • Play different Maths games on the online Maths Shed – This will help with your recalling your number facts (Access this through your Spelling Shed login details which are in your yellow log) https://www.mathshed.com/

 

  • Attached below is a poster of the Roman Numerals that you can practise and create a poster of your own to learn the Roman Numerals. 

 

ENGLISH

 

  • Attached below is a Romans Word Search to complete and look for key vocabulary for our new topic. 
  • Attached is a Roman Soldier information text to read with some tasks to complete
  • Practise reading using the e-books on ‘Reading Planet Online’. You could read the books on your level and any other books you would like to share. This way you can continue your daily reading! Your password and log in were sent via Parentmail.

  • There are some 60 second read documents in your packs that link with our Stone Age topic or a sporting link that we have not covered yet so you could read these and answer the questions to help your comprehension skills.

  • Read a range of texts at home. You could see how many type of texts you can find...These could include story books, non-fiction texts, instructions for games, maps, recipe books etc.

 

 

  • Practise the Year 3 Statutory Spellings using the word mat below to spell the words correctly. You could use the 'Look, Cover, Say, Write Check' strategy that we use in our spelling lessons in school. Maybe put these words into sentences or practise writing them with the correct joins to develop your handwriting. 

 

  • Practise your joined handwriting using the 'Penpal' joins we use at school. Please use the picture below to remind you which letters join and which letters do not. Also be careful to check the height of ascenders (letters that go up) and decenders (letters that go down).

 

  • You could ask someone at home to create a little Wonderful Writing task for you to complete and do a piece of writing or you could create a task yourself. This could be based on one of your favourite topics, your interests, your family etc and could be a story, a story setting, a letter, a diary entry or whatever style of English text you would like.

CREATIVE TASKS

 

DESIGN AND CREATE YOUR OWN ROMAN MOSAIC.....

 

The Romans created bright and detailed mosaics to decorate the walls, floors and vaults of buildings with colour and beauty.  

 

Below is an information text for you to learn more about Roman Mosaics and there are some tasks attached for you to complete including designing and creating your own mosaic!
