Welcome to Abbot's Hall Primary School

The Friends of Abbots Hall School are a collection of parents from all year groups across the school who work together and alongside the school to help raise money for the school. The fundraising activities are designed to

  • To raise funds to provide the school with additional equipment not normally provided by the Local Education Authority.
  • To arrange social events for children and parents.

Each year, we organise a variety of events, for example, a Christmas fair, discos including Year 6 leavers disco, film nights, entertainers, summer fair etc.  If you would like to help with any event or have any ideas please let us know.

Friends News, December 2019

We raised a record £1670 at the Christmas Fair a few weeks back! A big thank you to everyone that helped out and to so many of you for attending in such miserable weather!

This term we presented the school with a giant cheque for £1400 - the equivalent of £100 per class, this will be spent on reading corners within classrooms, this brings us to the end a year's worth of Friends donations towards reading in school. Starting last Autumn with £1000 worth of new books, and the joint redevelopment of the library throughout the year. The library is looking fantastic - very fresh and modern - and was officially opened last month by visiting author Ross Montgomery.

As well as paying for Ross Montgomery to make a visit, Friends donations paid for the library's big new musical instrument cupboard, shelving stands, seating, desk & chair, with school re-carpeting and painting - it really is a fantastic transformation and very welcoming place for all the children to use.

On top of the ongoing literacy donations this term we have also donated money for the storytellers to visit, to replace 3 of the benches in the playground with recycled plastic versions that should last for decades, and bought over 600 spring bulbs that the eco-club have now planted in the forest school, fingers crossed they all come up and create amazing display that the children can learn from next year.

Earlier in the term we hosted our very first Teddybears Picnic and Family Quiz Night, both of these events were very successful and we will be looking to run them again in the future. Still to come before Christmas is the YR entertainer and Y1&2 disco - if you can help supervise at either of these events please get in touch, all help is very welcome.

If you want to find out more about the Friends please feel free to turn up at any meetings, new faces are always welcome, please check our Facebook page for meeting info.

We are also still on the lookout for someone that can sign off our accounts, please get in touch if you can help with this.

Have a great Christmas and hope to see you at the events we have planned for next year! Paul Bearman, Chair of Friends of Abbot's Hall School.
