The third virtual competition event is the Virtual Ipswich Town Football Challenge. Year 5 pupils will take part in this event during their PE lesson.
The challenge is to take part in 3 separate skills challenges suitable for all age groups with the points being added together to give an individual score. The individual scores can also be added together for overall year group or school score. Prizes will be awarded for best scores and also based on number of pupils that participated and School Game Values.
Challenge 1- Dribble like Edwards
For this activity participants can choose between different levels of difficulty with more points allocated to the harder challenge. How many points can you score in 1 minute?
Level 1 - Dribble a ball to a marked distance of 10 metres to score 1 point and then dribble back to score another.
Level 2 -
Dribble the ball in and out of the cones to a marked distance of 10 metres to score 2 points and then dribble back in and out of the cones again for another 2 points. How many points can you score in 1 minute?
Challenge 2- Pass like Bishop
For this activity participants can choose between different levels of difficulty with more points allocated to the harder challenge. How many points can you score in 1 Minute?
Level 1 -
Pass a ball between a marked distance of 10 metres to a partner to score 1 pt then pass back to score another 1pt. Keep going for 1 minute.
Level 2 -
Pass a ball between a gate (two cones about 2ft or 60cm apart) over a marked distance of 10 metres to a partner to score 2 pts then pass back to score another 2pt. Keep going for 1 minute.
Challenge 3- Shoot like Norwood
For this activity participants have 5 shots at goal (no goalkeeper) and get more points allocated for the placement of the shot ie the corners of the goal are worth more points. How many points can you score ?
Take 5 shots at a goal from a marked distance of 10metres. Different points are awarded depending on placement of ball. (Max Goal width 12 ft)
Congratulations to everyone in Year 5 who took part in the Virtual Ipswich Town Football Challenge! All pupils took part in all three challenges and their points were added together for a combined score.

Virtual Ipswich Town Football Challenge results from across the Gipping Valley
and Thurston School Sport Partnership
Across the GVTSSP there were 15 primary schools who took part in the Virtual Ipswich Town Football Challenge. Approximately 1060 pupils across 6 year groups!
At Abbot's Hall, we had the whole of Year 5 take part in the Virtual Ipswich Town Football Challenge. These challenges took place during the pupils' Football PE lessons. We are extremely proud of each and every one of you. Well done for taking part and BTBYCB!
Special congratulations go to each and every Year 5 pupil who earned points towards the team total - we had the highest Yr5/6 team score in the Partnership - 688pts. First place. An amazing result!
Also, huge congratulations go to our footballing star Ben H (Yr5), who achieved the second highest score in his age category. Well done Ben! Ben received a silver medal for this great achievement.
Ben was the second highest scoring boy in the GVTSSP, winning a silver medal in the Yr5/6 virtual football competition. Well done Ben!
