Welcome to Abbot's Hall Primary School

U11 Girls Football Competition

On Thursday 19th October 2023, nine girls from Year 5 and 6 went to Stowmarket High School to take part in the GVTSSP U11 Girls Football Competition. This particular competition has become more popular and more competitive every single year, and this year proved to be the same once again. There were 12 teams at the competition from other local primary schools within the GVTSSP.

The Abbot's U11 Girls Football team had been training hard for this competition with Mr Healy and Mrs Cook. The girls have been committed and determined to do their very best at the competition and they didn't disappoint on the day. To begin with each team gained points through three football skill challenges and then the games began. Abbot's Hall was put into Group B and played three games to start with.

The results of the Group B games were as follows:

Abbot's Hall (3) v Elmswell (0)

Abbot's Hall (2) v Creeting (1)

Abbot's Hall (3) v Wood Ley (0)

The girls won all of their group games and went through to the semi-finals against Bosmere. The girls fought hard and played well with real grit and determination. The result:

Abbot's Hall (3) v Bosmere (0)

Having won their semi-final game the girls went through to the finals against Cedars Park! This was to be the big match, the match that both teams had been waiting for. The game was intense and the ball went from end to end and back again. Both teams did not want to lose this game and neither were giving up without a fight. In the end the game finished as a draw.

Abbot's Hall (0) v Cedars Park (0)

Unfortunately, as the game ended in a draw it came down to points earned in the starter activities and Cedars Park won by 2 points!

The U11 Girls Football Team came second on the day. A massive well done to all involved and to the team for their amazing team spirit and commitment. Well done girls! BTBTYCB!
