Rights Respecting School
Abbot's Hall Primary School are a SILVER UNICEF Rights Respecting School, currently working our way to GOLD.
We aim to be a safe and inspiring place to learn, where children are respected, and their talents and nurtured, so they can thrive.
The Rights Respecting Schools Award embeds these values in daily school life at Abbot's Hall and gives children the best chance to lead happy, healthy lives and to be responsible, active citizens. With this in mind, the school applied to become a UNICEF Rights Respecting School in September 2021 and achieved its BRONZE Award in December 2021, followed by SILVER in March 2023.
Article 29: Goals of education - Education must develop every child's personality, talents and abilities to the full. It must encourage the child's respect for human rights, as well as respect for their parents, their own and other cultures, and the environment.
Pupils and staff are currently working towards GOLD which they aim to achieve in 2025.
Which rights are the most important to us at Abbot's Hall?
As part of our rights respecting journey, across the school, each class was asked to look at the rights and think about what they mean. They were then asked to vote for the ones they felt were the most important to us at Abbot's Hall. We then collated the results to form our 'Abbot's 8'.
