Summer 1 - Near and Far

We will learn about our local area and beyond in our ‘Near and Far’ topic. We also learn about different types of homes around the world and compare them to where we live. We will go on a walk around the local area to identify human and physical features and write a postcard about what we saw, write a list of city features, design and label a community as a group and make comparisons between where we live and a range of different homes around the world.
Please see the curriculum booklet for further information about the curriculum coverage for Summer 1.
Our P.E this term will be games, dance, ball skills and gymnastics. Children will select and apply new skills and actions. They will observe and describe what others have done, and use feedback from others to improve their own performance. All children must wear P.E kit following our policy; dark coloured tracksuits are essential for PE during the colder weather and T-shirt and shorts are still required for indoor P.E.
Please see the curriculum booklet for further information about the curriculum coverage for the Summer term.
Physical Development
Physical Development in the Foundation Stage is taught across the curriculum and throughout our indoor and outdoor provision. Children enjoy free-flow access to indoor/outdoor facilities all day. They also have 2 designated PE sessions each week which will focus on the skills of balance, object control and stability. We work hard to develop fine and gross motor skills so that children grow to be strong and well coordinated individuals.
PE days
Tuesday - outdoor PE
Friday - indoor PE
Please come to school in your PE kit on these days. For indoor PE shorts are required - please wear them underneath your joggers or bring them in your bag to change into. Children will need to have the correct clothing in order to take part. Please ensure children are dressed appropriately for the weather conditions when doing outdoor PE! Please ensure long hair is tied back and all jewellery is removed as children will not be able to take part in the lesson if they are wearing jewellery.
