Spring 1  - Time Detectives

Our learning this half term will centre around the topic 'Time Detectives' where children will learn about the past.  We will be using information books to research and write about dinosaurs and key historical figures such as Mary Anning. We will use our phonics knowledge to spell words and progress onto using full stops, capital letters and finger spaces. The children will be writing their own versions of a dinosaur story. We will continue to explore  numbers from 0-10 with a range of resources and making pairs, combining two groups and comparing length, height and mass. In addition to this, we will learn about 3D shapes, patterns and time.

Our P.E this term will be ball skills, dance and gymnastics. Children will select and apply new skills and actions. They will observe and describe what others have done, and use feedback from others to improve their own performance. All children must wear P.E kit following our policy; dark coloured tracksuits are essential for PE during the colder weather and T-shirt and shorts are still required for indoor P.E.

Please see the curriculum booklet for further information about the curriculum coverage for Spring 1.

Physical Development

Physical Development in the Foundation Stage is taught across the curriculum and throughout our indoor and outdoor provision. Children enjoy free-flow access to indoor/outdoor facilities all day. They also have 2 designated PE sessions each week which will focus on the skills of balance, object control and stability. We work hard to develop fine and gross motor skills so that children grow to be strong and well coordinated individuals.

PE days

Tuesday - outdoor PE

Friday - indoor PE

Please come to school in your PE kit on these days. For indoor PE shorts are required - please wear them underneath your joggers or bring them in your bag to change into. Children will need to have the correct clothing in order to take part.  Please ensure children are dressed appropriately for the weather conditions when doing outdoor PE! Please ensure long hair is tied back and all jewellery is removed as children will not be able to take part in the lesson if they are wearing jewellery.
