We hope you are all having a super Active Week! It has been HOT HOT HOT so please take care when completing your challenges and activities, keeping yourselves hydrated with plenty of water!
We have heard lots of children completing their Step Up challenge...Mr Aldred decided to try a second attempt to beat Mr Ellis' score and is now ahead with 48 (we are still awaiting video evidence!) and Ollie Miller in Year 6 has also beaten mine and Mrs Cook's score with 46! What an amazing score! Who can beat their scores now??
Today, we would like to let you know about the 2020 Virtual School Games Festival! Read the information below to find out more:
Active Suffolk and the Suffolk Sport and PE Network have partnered with Ipswich Town Football Club Community Trust, BBC Radio Suffolk and Most Active County Partnership to launch a countywide virtual school games event. Each year, Active Suffolk support the Suffolk School Games Festival which invites schools across the county to compete against other to claim the winning title. Due to the Covid-19, the usual offer has had to be adapted and as a result, the Suffolk School Games have gone virtual.
The event will launch TODAY and the website to register your school or child’s interest in the Virtual School Games has now gone live!! To register, please ask your grown up to log on to: www.suffolkschoolgames.co.uk
Once registered, you will then receive the first four activities on Thursday 25th June 2020. The final four activities will then be released the following week on Thursday 2nd July 2020. The eight activities will be based on the following sports: Athletics, Boccia, Cricket, Football, Gymnastics, Netball, Rounders and tennis. All children that submit an entry as part of the Virtual School Games event will gain their school points. All points will be calculated and the winning school will be announced on Friday 10th July 2020. All activities have been adapted to ensure they are suitable for all primary school aged children across the county and can be suitably carried out at home or in school if attending.
Enjoy Abbot's and keep being active!
Monday 22nd June 2020
Hello everyone and welcome to our Abbot's Hall ACTIVE WEEK!!
We know your teachers have got lots of plans to keep you active, think about the Olympics and some of you could even be set the task to set up your own mini sports day! This week would have been the start of the Olympics 2020 in Japan. Unfortunately, they have been postponed until next year but on Tuesday it is still Olympics Day. Some of your teachers may have planned some activities to go with this, but you may also like to complete some of the activities (documents below).
This week, we have a special challenge set by the Sports Partnership to help raise money for the NHS charities. The challenge is a Sprint Step Up challenge- how many steps can you do in 30 seconds? Stepping both feet up and back down equals one step. Check out both Mrs Cook and I taking part in the challenge:
Can you beat Mrs Cook with 38 steps or Miss Saunders with 43 steps? Let us know how you get on by emailing Miss Saunders at email@example.com.
